The Mayor of Ipoh Dato’ Rumaizi bin Baharin@Md Daud formally inaugurated the “Dr. Little Club: A&E Life Saver On Call 2023” initiative at Pantai Hospital recently.
In alignment with the Ipoh City Council‘s philosophy, the support for and encouragement of benevolent programmes, such as the “Dr. Little Club: A&E Life Saver on Call 2023,” are fervently echoed.
This initiative is poised to contribute significantly towards realising the Municipal Council of Ipoh’s vision, effectively transforming Ipoh into a ‘Smart Prosperous City.’
The ceremony witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Chong Siet Fong, Chief Executive Officer of Pantai Hospital Ipoh, and Rajpal Singh A/L Baldev Singh, Senior Operations Manager of Pantai Hospital Ipoh.
Healthcare awareness and emergencies
In a contemporary world riddled with concerns over accidents and emergencies, the imperative to address these issues looms large. These incidents, both severe and minor, afflict populations indiscriminately. Hence, collective responsibility in heightening awareness and knowledge assumes pivotal importance, particularly in reducing accident and emergency occurrences within Ipoh.

As the global stage is navigated, an array of challenges surfaces, particularly in the healthcare domain. Notably, three years ago, Malaysia grappled with the severe Covid-19 pandemic, which catalyzed a multifaceted response from government bodies and non-governmental organizations to combat its spread earnestly.
Nurturing health awareness among children
Early exposure to foundational health education, with a pronounced emphasis on emergency scenarios, assumes paramount importance, especially for impressionable young minds like children.
The “Dr. Little Club: A&E Life Saver on Call 2023” programme serves as a conduit for vital exposure. It does not only offer experiential learning but encompasses diverse aspects, ranging from potential career paths to fostering preparedness for any unforeseen emergencies.
The programme diligently introduces children to the hospital’s 24-hour Emergency Department and the X-Ray Department, thereby familiarizing them with the healthcare environment. Activities encompass various healthcare emergency scenarios, facilitating a tangible understanding of treatments for assorted healthcare crises.
Moreover, this endeavour is set to kindle curiosity and passion for healthcare professions. The children will gain insights into specialised medical roles like expert doctors, professionals within the X-Ray unit, dedicated nurses, and more.
