Dream Ride: Prasarana and Make-A-Wish collaborate

The cherished wish of a leukemia patient, Ahmad Faizal has come true through a collaborative effort between Prasarana Malaysia Berhad (“Prasarana”) and Make-A-Wish Malaysia.

Prasarana, the primary rail and bus operator, provided Ahmad, an 8-year-old leukemia patient, the opportunity to embark on a ‘Thomas & Friends’ themed train journey through the Rapid Rail Ampang Complex.

A dream come true with ‘Thomas & Friends’ journey

Ahmad, who has been battling leukemia, nurtures a deep fascination for the ‘Thomas & Friends’ animated series. His dream to ride a train has been realized, becoming a source of inspiration and motivation for him.

Amir Hamdan, Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Rail, expressed, “We are humbled to fulfill Ahmad’s dream and hope that programs like these uplift his spirits and those of other children, encouraging them to stay spirited and resilient. This collaboration aims to not only bring joy to Ahmad but also inspire and offer hope to all children in need of support.”

Datin Linda Ngiam, Chairperson of Make-A-Wish Malaysia, in her address, remarked, “Dreams like these are unique. We couldn’t have made this happen without Prasarana’s kindness.

This collaboration has allowed us to transform Ahmad’s experience, and we’re grateful to Prasarana’s staff who supported us from start to finish. Whenever Ahmad rides a train, this memory will undoubtedly remain etched in his mind.”

Healing joy amidst challenges

Ahmad’s love for Thomas & Friends serves as therapy and a source of delight during his hospital stays. His radiant joy was evident throughout the program’s duration. Since his diagnosis, Ahmad is scheduled to complete six rounds of intensive chemotherapy treatment, currently undergoing his third cycle.

The day’s activities commenced with a visit to the Operations Control Centre at Ampang LRT Station, where Ahmad delved deeper into trains’ operations. Subsequently, he had the opportunity to be with Train Officers aboard the driver’s cabin as the train journeyed to Chan Sow Lin LRT Station.

The collaborative effort between Prasarana and Make-A-Wish Malaysia has not only fulfilled Ahmad’s wish but also created a transformative experience for him. His fascination with ‘Thomas & Friends’ has ignited a bright spark amid the challenges he faces.

This heartwarming initiative has demonstrated the power of collective goodwill in brightening the lives of young individuals like Ahmad. His infectious enthusiasm during the train ride reflects the potential for positive experiences to uplift spirits, providing hope and strength during challenging times.
