Segambut 2 Station to boost development and connectivity

The upcoming Segambut 2 railway station near United Point Residence is set to transform the area, alleviate traffic, and enhance connectivity.

The construction of the Segambut 2 railway station, situated near United Point Residence, is poised to usher in a new era of development in the region.

Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) and IDP Industrial Development Sdn Bhd anticipate that this project, projected for completion by November 2025, will not only ease road traffic congestion but also contribute to increased home ownership in proximity to the city centre.

Development and connectivity boost

The collaborative efforts of RAC and IDP Industrial mark a significant step towards transforming Segambut into a high-density urban area. The railway station’s construction, a venture led by IDP Industrial, is backed by RAC’s provision of the land site.

Meanwhile, the Segambut 2 Railway Station, near United Point Residence, would be a driver for growth in the area, transforming Segambut into a high-density district, according to a joint statement made by RAC and IDP Industrial Growth Sdn Bhd.

The RAC and IDP also believe that the station’s development, which is scheduled to be completed in November 2025, will reduce traffic congestion and boost property ownership among individuals who want to live or work near the city centre.

The new railway station project is being developed by IDP, while the land for the project is provided by RAC, a government corporation.

The development agreement, formalized with a signing ceremony attended by notable officials including Transport Minister Anthony Loke and Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh, underscores the commitment to enhance both transportation infrastructure and urban living standards.

Enhancing the commuter experience

According to RAC and IDP, a total of 330,600 people live within a four-kilometre (km) radius of United Point Residence.

They said the railway station’s construction will provide travellers with a welcoming and comfortable environment.

This is due to the fact that 400 passengers are planned to be able to utilise the railway station at the same time, as opposed to the existing Segambut Railway Station, which is a stop with relatively limited facilities.

Equipped with cutting-edge amenities, including multiple escalators and lifts, business spaces, a pedestrian overpass, and designated areas for buses, taxis, and passenger drop-offs, the station aims to elevate the comfort and convenience of commuting.

Loke emphasised that this project will alleviate traffic congestion in the Segambut area while enhancing the overall commuter experience. He expressed the government’s anticipation for increased passenger numbers and a reduction in traffic issues.

By ushering in both convenience and connectivity, the Segambut 2 railway station embodies a step towards a more developed and efficient urban landscape. As its completion nears in November 2025, it holds the potential to reshape commuting patterns and urban living dynamics for the better.
