KBS and MTDC unite to empower youth in tech

In a significant move to bolster youth development and technological innovation, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) and the Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) inked a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at the UPM-MTDC Technology Centre III in Serdang, Malaysia. The partnership aims to propel the nation’s youth into the domains of Industry 4.0 and technopreneurship, marking a crucial milestone in the government’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent and driving technological advancements.

This MoU follows the successful collaboration between KBS and MTDC earlier this year when a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed for the Transformation of Technical, Vocational Education (TVET) Programmes at the Kuala Lumpur Industrial Training Institute in March.

MTDC’s support and advisory services

Under this new partnership, MTDC will provide KBS with advisory services and support, as well as assist in implementing the teaching factory in educational deliveries to university students participating in the TVET programs. The scope of advisory services and support encompasses accreditation, competency development, knowledge transfer, equipment upgrading, capacity-building programs, and the promotion of education and professional training in technology-related fields.

Furthermore, MTDC will play a crucial role in the implementation of the Teaching Factory initiative, which includes upgrading facilities and teaching equipment to create a more conducive learning environment for students.

Hj Mohammad Hazani Hj Hassan, CEO of MTDC, expressed during the MoU ceremony, “By working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Institusi Latihan Kemahiran Belia dan Sukan (ILKBS), it gives us an opportunity to create a vibrant ecosystem that empowers the youth and accelerates technological advancements in Malaysia. We aspire to create a pool of competent TVET talents for high-paying jobs in deeptech and Industry 4.0. This partnership also opens doors for networking opportunities between MTDC and its ecosystem companies with ILKBS.”
