In a strategic manoeuvre to underscore its unwavering commitment to the world of travel, MOVE Digital, the digital arm of Capital A, has embarked on a transformation journey. Key to this transformation is the rebranding of MOVE’s travel platform, airasia Superapp, soon to be known as ‘airasia move.’
As part of this rebrand, Tony Fernandes, the co-founder of AirAsia and CEO of Capital A, will assume the role of Executive Chairman of MOVE Digital. His leadership is set to foster a closer collaboration between airasia Superapp (now airasia move) and BigPay, unlocking the full potential and synergy of these digital entities.
airasia move: A visionary rebrand
MOVE Digital’s strategic rebranding of airasia Superapp to ‘airasia move’ signifies a pivotal shift in its identity as the digital arm of Capital A. This transformation underscores the commitment to propel people, ideas, and innovation within the travel domain. The rebrand comes with the promise of offering seamless access to travel and financial services on a unified platform.
Tony Fernandes emphasised the enhanced value proposition of airasia move, which will soon integrate financial features such as balance display, top-up, and payments from BigPay. This integration aims to establish airasia move as the preferred travel app, offering not only convenience but also financial empowerment to its users.
Fernandes expressed his commitment to enhancing synergy between the two businesses, ensuring a more enriching user experience. The market can anticipate the swift integration of BigPay features within airasia move, further cementing its position as a comprehensive digital platform.
New leadership and collaborative ventures
With the transformation of airasia Superapp into airasia move, MOVE Digital welcomes Nadia Omer as the Chief Executive Officer of airasia move, effective from 26 October. Her primary objective will be to drive airasia move’s vision as a low-cost travel platform with high conversion, aligning closely with BigPay, led by Zubin Rada Krishnan.
Mohamad Hafidz, the acting CEO, will continue to lead the business in the interim. This transition in leadership marks a significant step in realising the vision of synergy between airasia move and BigPay.
Both digital entities under Capital A have demonstrated remarkable progress. airasia move, formerly airasia Superapp, achieved its highest recorded Monthly Active Users (MAU) of 15 million at the end of the second quarter. Simultaneously, BigPay witnessed a 16% year-on-year growth in its carded users during the same period.
The rebranding of airasia Superapp to airasia move within the MOVE Digital ecosystem heralds an era of seamless integration between travel and finance. Under the leadership of Tony Fernandes as Executive Chairman, the digital arm of Capital A is poised to unlock new possibilities for travellers and financial enthusiasts alike.
