The grand opening of the Menjalara Fire and Rescue Station on October 18 was indeed a spectacular event, drawing the enthusiastic participation of both the local community and government officials.
Organized by the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, the “A Day with Bomba”event not only signified the official opening of the 20th fire station in Kuala Lumpur but also served as a vibrant platform for fostering community engagement and interaction.
The event brought together Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, Director General of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahab Mat Yasin for a symbolic tree planting ceremony.
One of the highlights of the day was a thrilling fire demonstration, during which the brave members of the Fire and Rescue Department showcased their firefighting and rescue skills.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department ensured that the event had a diverse range of activities to engage visitors. The day was filled with opportunities to have fun and learn, from wall climbing challenges to a coloring contest, fire safety talk, quizzes and an exhibition booth.
Visitors were also treated to a live band performance by Bomba while the fire kitchen served up free breakfast and lunch to hundreds of visitors. This open house event allowed the community to interact with the officials and learn more about the station’s operations.
Community members and the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department officials were seen mingling and enjoying the day together. The spirit of collaboration and unity was evident throughout the event, as local residents expressed their appreciation for the newly inaugurated station and the efforts of the department.
