Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) student Ejjaz Hakimi Mohamad Azan made waves as he secured the runner-up position in the prestigious national finals of FameLab Malaysia 2023, leaving a lasting impression with his compelling presentation.
Nineteen-year-old Ejjaz, currently pursuing a Diploma in Information & Communication Technology at APU, outshone experienced professionals, practising astronomers, and Ph.D. holders in the final rounds of FameLab Malaysia 2023.
The competition, a regional STEM presentation contest organised by the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), took place at Sunway University on the 20th of October.
Ejjaz’s presentation, titled “The Color of Your Clothes: More than Just a Fashion Sense,” delved into the intriguing relationship between clothing colour and human psychology. He eloquently demonstrated how fashion choices influence not only our perception of others but also our perception of ourselves.
Ejjaz’s remarkable achievement was met with enthusiastic support from 70 of his university peers who formed a cheerleading squad, showing solidarity with the three finalists representing APU.
Ejjaz’s fellow APU representatives, Moses Tung Yung Jian and Howard Ngu Wen Hao, also displayed exceptional communication skills and profound knowledge of their chosen topics.
Iman Danish, their lecturer at the School of Foundation, commented on their outstanding performances, saying, “The three students’ presentations were nothing short of impeccable. I noticed their ability to articulate complex concepts in an engaging and accessible manner captivated both the judges and the audience.”
Ejjaz, Howard, and Moses joined the winners of FameLab Malaysia 2023, their mentor, and special guests on stage for the award ceremony. This achievement highlights not only the students’ talents but also the quality of education at APU.
Datin Dr. Sarvinder Kaur, Head of the School of Foundation Studies at APU, expressed her immense pride and appreciation for the students’ accomplishments.
She noted, “Ejjaz, Howard, and Moses’ performance in the national finals, where they shared the stage with industry experts, is a testament to their outstanding potential and the high-quality education provided by APU.”
The entire APU community celebrates this remarkable achievement, eagerly anticipating the bright future of these young, talented minds.
