Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad has unveiled its Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) for the years 2023-2025 in conjunction with National Integrity Day 2023.
This initiative underscores the bank’s dedication to eradicating corruption and fostering good governance, aligning with the principles outlined in the National Anti-Corruption Plan (NACP) 2019-2023.
Promoting integrity and professionalism
The Bank Muamalat OACP plays a pivotal role within its broader integrity agenda. It seeks to instil a culture characterized by high levels of integrity and professionalism throughout the bank’s product and service delivery processes.
In doing so, it upholds the bank’s brand purpose, which revolves around ensuring “Better lives, together” for all.
The formal launch event, held under the auspices of Khairul Kamarudin, President and CEO of Bank Muamalat, and Ahmad Kamal bin Abdul Rahman, Assistant Commissioner of the Inspection and Consultation Division at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, marks a significant step in the bank’s journey towards ethical business practices.
This event was attended by senior bank management and representatives from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, alongside Bank Muamalat’s staff.
Bank Muamalat’s key objectives and mission
has set out nine strategic objectives as part of its OACP, with a particular emphasis on robust internal controls, enhanced accountability, and the minimisation of corruption risks. Khairul highlighted the core mission of the OACP.
He stressed that it is designed to enhance efficiency, transparency, accountability, and embed Bank Muamalat’s integrity and ethics standards. These elements are integral to Bank Muamalat’s aspiration to become the leading Islamic bank in Malaysia, renowned for its trustworthiness and dependability.
