Coway partners with FRIM and EcoKnights for green initiatives

Coway, a leader in sustainability, partners with FRIM and EcoKnights for tree planting and river clean-ups, fostering a greener future in Malaysia.

In a bold move towards environmental stewardship, Coway, has embarked on a journey to champion sustainability and contribute to a greener future. The company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) is evident in its strategic partnerships with esteemed organizations such as the Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) and EcoKnights.

In alignment with the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change’s Greening Malaysia Programme through the 100 Million Tree Planting Campaign, Coway and FRIM joined forces in a tree-planting initiative. Recently, 20 trees, including nyatoh taban merah, meranti rambai daun, merawan siput jantan, sentul paya, jambu bol, and resak irian, were planted at FRIM. This collaboration underscores Coway’s dedication to national sustainability initiatives, with FRIM contributing to over 50,000 trees planted in Malaysia to date.

Managing Director of Coway Malaysia, Kyle Choi, emphasized, “Our partnership with esteemed organisations to support environmental activities and maintain the ecosystem reflects our unwavering dedication to creating a sustainable future.”

Dr Ismail Parlan, Director General of FRIM, expressed delight in the collaboration, stating, “Together, we aspire to make a meaningful contribution to environmental conservation and to underscore the vital importance of tree planting for a healthier planet.”

Riverside Cleanup and Eco Education with EcoKnights

Coway’s commitment extends beyond tree planting. The company has also teamed up with EcoKnights, a non-governmental environmental organization, to tackle river pollution and promote sustainable practices. Since 2021, the two entities have cleared over 2,000 kg of waste from rivers in the Klang Valley.

In a recent cleanup at the Kayu Ara River in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), 252.5 kg of rubbish was removed. To enhance the impact, Coway and EcoKnights are planning more river clean-ups in the coming months, along with educational initiatives such as soap-making workshops and upcycling projects.

Kyle Choi highlighted the significance of collaboration, stating, “By collaborating with like-minded entities, we amplify our collective impact, working together to safeguard our planet’s precious resources.”

Inspiring environmental consciousness

Coway’s dedication to a robust and sustainable future goes beyond partnerships. The company has been actively engaged in various CSR activities, including river log boom clean-ups, Plogging (picking up litter while jogging), recycling efforts, coral reefs conservation, and more.

Choi concluded, “Every small action contributes to a brighter, cleaner world for generations to come. We hope that these initiatives will inspire many others to join in to care and protect our environmental heritage and Mother Earth.”

As Coway continues to foster a legacy of cleaner, greener communities, these initiatives underscore the company’s role as a leader in environmental responsibility and a catalyst for positive change. For more information about Coway Malaysia, visit www.coway.com.my.
