Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) has launched Allianz Eco Quest, an innovative education empowerment programme for primary school children in Pulau Tuba, Langkawi.
This two-year project, in collaboration with Incredible Hearts PLT, aims to benefit 75 students from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Tuba.
Allianz Eco Quest: A new approach to learning
The Allianz Eco Quest programme is designed for students aged 10 to 12 years. It focuses on place-based and eco-education, supported by customised gamified learning to enhance learning experiences and revive their motivation towards learning.
The programme incorporates elements such as shared reading to enhance literacy and performance art to instil collaboration skills.
It aims to encourage students and Pulau Tuba communities to appreciate nature, raise awareness towards conservation, and guide students in advancing their learning skills including literacy, comprehension, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Four themes of Allianz Eco Quest
The Allianz Eco Quest project comprises four themes: Eco-Wellbeing, Eco-Citizen, Eco-Green, and Eco-Leader.
Eco-Wellbeing recognises the integral relationship between human development and the natural environment.
Eco-Citizen focuses on tasks such as documenting plant species, monitoring phenology and habitat changes, tracking animal behaviour, and contributing to conservation efforts.
Eco-Green focuses on the intricate relationship between earth and space. Eco-Leader encompasses leadership and ecotourism, prioritising the preservation of natural environments, history, and the promotion of sustainable practices that directly benefit local communities.
Allianz Malaysia Berhad Chairman Zakri Khir, who officiated the launch of Allianz Eco Quest, expressed his hope that more paths to success will be unlocked for the children of Pulau Tuba with the development of Allianz Eco Quest.
He emphasised the potential of the island and its children, stating, “We hope that the training and programmes available under Allianz Eco Quest can instil enthusiasm in young people to develop human capital that gives importance to the preservation of the environment.”
The Allianz Eco Quest is a continuation from the Sekolah Belantara Eco-Education And Literacy Programme Pilot Project, a six-month pilot project involving 40 primary school students aged between 10 to 12 years from Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Tuba.
