Shah Alam Stadium: Home of the giants
Over its illustrious three-decade history since the official inauguration on July 16, 1994, the Shah Alam Stadium has become a cherished symbol for Selangor residents, particularly those residing in Shah Alam.
In its prime, this colossal 83,000-capacity stadium was the epicentre for a myriad of noteworthy sporting events, tournaments, and entertainment extravaganzas.
It stood proudly as the home ground for the 33-time Malaysia Cup champions, Selangor, affectionately known as the Red Giants.
The stadium hosted numerous Malaysia Cup finals, stirring deep emotions and evoking unparalleled passion among fans, creating moments that will forever be etched in the annals of football history.
The venue also hosted unforgettable performances by Bon Jovi, British metal band Deep Purple, and Maroon 5. These electrifying shows left an indelible mark, resonating throughout the vast expanse of the stadium.
The Shah Alam Sports Complex, as per the state government’s plans, will come to fruition via a collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Reports indicate that the complex will designate 60% of its area for sports activities, with the remaining 40% serving as public recreation space.
