Tribute for Mamat Khalid
Mamat Khalid, known for his directorial films including “Zombi Kampung Pisang” and “Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah,” left an indelible mark on Malaysian cinema. The tribute aims to showcase his contributions, not just as a director but also as a scriptwriter for the iconic film “Puteri Gunung Ledang.”
His comedy dramas, such as “Rombongan Cik Kiah ke Sukan Komanwel” and “Rombongan Cik Kiah Ke Kelana Jaya,” added a distinct flavour to the Malaysian film landscape. Mamat’s creativity continued with his latest work, “Kampong Pisang Kita Setandan,” a short film portraying the spirit of unity in a cherished village.
Mamat Khalid, also known as Mohamad Mohamad Khalid, hailed from Sungai Rokam, Perak, and left a lasting legacy in the Malaysian film industry. Sadly, he passed away due to a heart attack at Hospital Slim River, Tanjung Malim, on October 24, 2021.
The ‘wayang pacak’ tribute at Silverlakes Village Outlet serves as a fitting celebration of his contributions to cinema, marking a cultural highlight for Visit Perak Year and the New Year’s Eve festivities.
