In a groundbreaking feat for Malaysia’s representation on the international stage, Mrs Malaysia World 2023, Vanishaantini Rameas, is poised to make a statement at the upcoming Mrs World 2023 pageant in Las Vegas.
The focal point of her showcase? A colossal ‘wau’ (kite) costume, designed by Saran Anak Lagong, which has not only captured attention but has also earned its place in the Malaysia Book of Records.
The record-breaking costume
The grand reveal of the largest ‘wau’ costume took place at an event hosted at a local hotel, where the 3.8-metre high and 4.8-metre wide masterpiece stunned attendees.
The designer, Saran Anak Lagong, expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “Creating this costume was a challenge, but it was an honour to contribute to Mrs Malaysia World 2023’s representation on the global stage.”
Vanishaantini the 27-year-old entrepreneur who clinched the Mrs. Malaysia World 2023 title, expressed her excitement about the unique opportunity to showcase Malaysian craftsmanship.
“I am proud to represent Malaysia at the international level with this costume as I want to showcase something unique and unprecedented,” she said.
Mrs Malaysia World‘s determination
Wearing a costume of such magnitude is no easy feat, with the ‘wau’ costume weighing approximately 10 kilograms.
Vanishaantini shared insights into her preparation process, stating, “I have been consistently practising for the catwalk since March, taking care of my health while also looking after my business and engaging in social work. I hope I can give my best at the competition later.”
Her commitment to the role extends beyond the physical challenges, delving into her mental and emotional preparedness. Vanishaantini’s journey from winning the Mrs. Malaysia World title to breaking records with the largest ‘wau’ costume underscores the dedication required for such a prestigious representation.
Prior to this triumph, she was one of the 39 finalists in the Miss Malaysia World 2021 pageant. Using the platform, she advocated for “Stand Against Mental Abuse in All Relationships,” drawing from personal experiences and a commitment to making a positive impact.
Reflecting on her success, Vanishaantini credited her husband for unwavering support. “None of this would have been possible without his incredible support and motivation,” she shared.
Her husband’s involvement, from pageant workshops to assisting with dress collections, showcases the strength found in a supportive partnership.
