The Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival (FLLSPG) 2024 is set to captivate audiences with an extended nine-day schedule, featuring a unique blend of international and local participants.

Organised by the Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG), Persatuan Pelayang Johor, and Majlis Pelayang Malaysia, the festival aims to draw 500,000 visitors, promising a dynamic celebration of kite-flying artistry.

Scheduled from February 24 to March 3, FLLSPG 2024 boasts 135 international participants from 39 countries, accompanied by over 400 local enthusiasts.

This year’s festival is distinctive, encompassing both a pre-festival, known as the “Gema Festival,” and the main Kite Festival.

A notable addition to the event is the “Stunt Kite” performance, aimed at igniting the interest of young participants and infusing dynamism into the traditional art of kite flying.

A meeting of the FLLSDPG 2024 Main Organizing Committee, chaired by YB Dato’ Haji A. Rahim Nin, was held on January 10 at MBPG to discuss collaborative efforts among involved parties.

After a national-level event in 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic hiatus, the festival which was held 26 times since 1995 are thrilled to return to the international stage in 2024.

Aligning with the MBPG’s theme of “Dynamic Pasir Gudang,” this year’s festival adopts the theme of “Dynamic Culture.”

The organisers aim to create a vibrant atmosphere by blending tradition with modernity. The event’s diverse activities include kite and stunt kite competitions, ensuring a mix of competitive spirit and artistic performances by guest artists.

According to Media Digital Johor, the “Stunt Kite” performance is anticipated to be a highlight, introducing a new dimension to kite flying and engaging a younger audience.
