The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac) is gearing up for an exciting 2024 season, offering music lovers a diverse range of experiences, from high-energy tributes to culturally enriching journeys

Music lovers can look forward to a thrilling blast from the past  with two vastly different offerings.

This Is It: Tribute to Michael Jackson from 15 to 17 March 2024  followed by Spice, Magic and Mystique from 21 to 24 March 2024 at The Kuala Lumpur  Performing Arts Centre (klpac).

The season kicks off with a tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, titled “This Is It,” performed by the klpac Symphonic Band.

This timely concert comes as anticipation builds for the biopic “Michael,” featuring Jaafar Jackson portraying his late uncle.

The concert promises a nostalgic journey through Jackson’s iconic career, featuring chart-topping hits like “Thriller,” “Billie Jean,” and “Beat It.”

Conducted by Cheryl Mah, the performance aims to relive the electrifying energy and groundbreaking music that captivated audiences worldwide.

The Young KL Singers present “Spice, Magic & Mystique”

Following the high-octane tribute, klpac offers a contrasting experience with “Spice, Magic, and Mystique” by The Young KL Singers, running from March 21st to 24th.

This concert takes audiences on a captivating musical journey through Southeast Asian folklore and folktales.

Under the direction of Mak Chi Hoe and Ian Chow, with choreography by Zhafir Muzani, the performance features a selection of choral songs from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

The audience is invited to create a close-knit atmosphere by sitting on mats around the performers, immersing themselves in the cultural richness of the region.

Beyond these two main offerings, klpac has more in its vibrant calendar. The klpac Symphonic Band will be resuming its “Outreach Collaborative Project An Uncommon Journey III,” providing a valuable learning experience for young wind band musicians.

For those seeking a unique pre-show experience, a special “Backstage Bites Tour + Concert Pass” package is available for “Spice, Magic, and Mystique” on March 23rd.

This package allows participants to explore the heritage building housing klpac and gain insights into the show from the creative team.

Finally, dance enthusiasts can look forward to “Dancebox,” showcasing diverse dance styles by emerging and established choreographers, on March 9th.

Regular tickets for This Is It: Tribute to Michael Jackson are priced from RM68 to RM100 while  regular tickets for Spice, Magic and Mystique are priced from RM60 to RM100. Dancebox’ regular  tickets are priced at RM30. Concession pricing is available.
