FOMEMA Sdn Bhd‘s charity arm, Yayasan Tengku Abdullah (YTA), has continued its tradition of supporting vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan with a series of charitable activities.
FOMEMA fostering inclusivity through giving back
“As the charity arm for FOMEMA, we understand our role in identifying and giving support to the local communities, especially during the festive season,” said YM Tengku Shaheera Tengku Tan Sri Abdullah, Chairman of YTA.
“To this end, we have allocated RM300,000 towards impactful activities during the month of Ramadan for those who need it the most.”
Reflecting YTA’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and solidarity, volunteers from FOMEMA, regardless of their religious backgrounds, actively participated in these initiatives.
This year’s Ramadan efforts included two major Iftar events. One was held with residents of Kampung Sungai Kepong in Lanchang, Pahang, while the other event welcomed representatives and residents of four charity homes in Kuala Lumpur.
The Kuala Lumpur event also saw the participation of 51 students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia. These students received essential aid in the form of textbooks and medical tools required for their studies.
In total, both Iftar events brought together around 1,000 members of vulnerable communities, including students, single mothers, orphans, and the elderly.
Financial assistance and essential supplies distributed
To further alleviate the financial burden of these communities ahead of the Aidilfitri celebrations, YM Tengku Shaheera and YHM Tengku Dato’ Seri Abu Bakar Ahmad Tengku Tan Sri Abdullah, Executive Chairman of FOMEMA Sdn Bhd, personally distributed Duit Raya and contributions amounting to approximately RM70,000 to the recipients.
YTA’s charitable efforts extended beyond Iftar events. Throughout Ramadan, they distributed 650 packets of dates to charity homes and basic necessities and Hari Raya essentials to low-income families in Klang Valley.
“These initiatives are part of continuous efforts by YTA to spread joy and much-needed support to vulnerable communities, aligning with FOMEMA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus on giving back to communities and ensuring public wellbeing while creating meaningful bonds leading up to the festive periods,” said Dr Mohd Afiq Farhan Md Hanif, Chief Executive Officer of FOMEMA.
FOMEMA’s dedication to social responsibility ensures that underprivileged communities are not forgotten during Ramadan, allowing them to celebrate Aidilfitri with a sense of joy and togetherness.
