Coway and EcoKnights join forces for a greener future

Coway has announced its ongoing collaboration with EcoKnights, a prominent environmental NGO, to champion a greener future through the Guardians Against Garbage (GAG) initiative.

This partnership reflects Coway’s dedication to environmental advocacy and its commitment to fostering a culture of responsible waste management.

Coway’s vision extends beyond creating healthy homes; it also aims to cultivate a sense of environmental responsibility within communities.

In conjunction with World Earth Day, Coway encourages the public to embrace small yet impactful daily habits, such as proper waste disposal and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces.

Partnering with EcoKnights allows Coway to amplify its environmental efforts.

Through volunteer mobilisation and engagement with local communities, the initiative raises awareness about the importance of environmental conservation.

The programme also promotes river health, advocates for sustainable practices, and inspires proactive environmental stewardship.

Removing waste, and protecting waterways

Since its inception in 2021, the GAG initiative has seen impressive results. Over 2,600 kilograms of waste have been removed from rivers and parks in the Klang Valley with the help of more than 320 volunteers.

These clean-up efforts have targeted areas such as Sungai Keroh, Sungai Kayu Ara, Kiara Park, and Sungai Bunus Retention Pond.

The collected waste is meticulously categorised – from plastic and electronics to furniture and fabrics – providing valuable data for local authorities in their efforts to improve community well-being.

Recyclable materials are directed to appropriate channels, while other waste is handled by local authorities like Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).

Going beyond clean-up initiatives, Coway fosters environmental awareness through educational workshops for volunteers.

These workshops focus on upcycling and recycling, with practical demonstrations such as turning used cooking oil into soap.

Additionally, Coway cultivates young minds by partnering with the Nicol David Organisation (NDO) for plogging (jogging while picking up litter) activities and DIY self-watering system workshops for children.

These interactive sessions highlight the importance of individual action and demonstrate how small changes in daily habits can positively impact the environment.

A shared commitment to sustainability
