Brother Malaysia teams up with Sunway College & Stylo to empower spastic children with sewing skills, fostering independence & creativity.

Brother International Malaysia, a leading provider of innovative printing, labelling, and sewing solutions, has announced its partnership with the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory, marking a significant stride towards empowering individuals with spastic disabilities.

In collaboration with Sunway College & Stylo, Fashion Design Technology Hub, Brother Malaysia has committed its support by sponsoring sewing machines and all necessary equipment to establish a home sewing room within the association’s premises. This initiative aims to nurture creativity, develop practical skills, and promote self-reliance among individuals with spastic disabilities.

Mr. Tsutomu Takaki, Managing Director of Brother International (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, expressed the brand’s dedication to empowering individuals to reach their full potential. “We are proud to play a role in supporting the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory in achieving this goal,” Mr. Takaki stated. He extended gratitude to Sunway College & Stylo, Fashion Design Technology Hub for their partnership in realizing this project.

Dato’ Hong Yee Keong, President of the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territory, expressed gratitude for the support provided by Brother Malaysia and Sunway College & Stylo, Fashion Design Technology Hub. “This home sewing machine room will open up a world of possibilities for our children with cerebral palsy and their family members,” Dato’ Hong Yee Keong remarked.

Augustine Wong, Director of Programme for Sunway College & Stylo, Fashion Design Technology Hub, highlighted the institution’s commitment to positive social impact. “We are always committed to using our expertise to positive social impact,” Wong affirmed.

Comprehensive Training Program Unveiled

The initiative includes training sessions covering basic sewing machine operation, seam sewing, zipper application, and intermediate-level skills such as pattern reading and fabric cutting. The collaborative effort aims to equip members of the association with valuable skills for greater independence and self-sufficiency.
