Annihilation: A multifaceted immersive experience

“Annihilation” by Colas Fiszman invites audiences on a mesmerising journey. This multifaceted experience combines dance, video projections, and electronic music, all powered by modern motion capture technology.

This cutting-edge tech enables real-time projection of a dancer’s movements onto the stage, creating a seamless interaction with elaborate synthetic landscapes.

Audiences are transported to immersive digital environments, further enhanced by Jonas Margraf’s 360° spatial music.

Adding another layer to the experience are renowned local performers Chloe Tan, Mohamad Arifwaran, Audrey Chua, and Zhafir Muzani. Each dancer brings their unique style to “Annihilation,” creating narratives that explore humanity’s relationship with technology and nature.

Leveraging technologies like Unreal Engine 5, TouchDesigner, and LiDAR sensors, “Annihilation” transforms traditional art experiences into dynamic encounters.

REXPERIENCE: Piying Dream & Matter of Painting

Alongside “Annihilation,” visitors can explore the fantastical world of “Piying Dream,” a digitally animated showcase of Chinese shadow puppetry.

“Matter of Painting” offers a contrasting experience, transforming the gallery walls into a canvas where an “invisible digital artist” explores paint materials, creating a meditative and immersive space.

Recognizing the importance of physical space, REXPERIENCE has undergone a significant upgrade to seamlessly showcase both “Annihilation” and the existing exhibitions. Key improvements include:

• Uniform Projection Surface: Crisp and clear projections are achieved by replacing the traditional brick walls with a uniform surface, enveloping visitors in a vivid narrative landscape.
• Resurfaced Flooring: To optimize projection and enhance immersion, the floor has been resurfaced with a uniform matte color. This invites visitors to fully engage with the world where art and technology converge.

Showtimes are Tuesdays to Fridays from 8 PM to 10 PM, and weekends and public holidays from 2 PM to 10 PM. Ticket prices range from RM40 for children to RM80 for adults.

At other times, tickets are priced at RM60 for adults, RM42 for youths, students, seniors, and OKU, and RM30 for children.
