Allianz Malaysia Berhad (Allianz Malaysia) embodied the spirit of giving this Hari Raya Aidilfitri through its ‘Raya Bermakna Bersama Allianz Malaysia’ initiative.
This corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, driven by Allianz4Good, partnered with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to support underprivileged and vulnerable communities across Malaysia.
Supporting essential needs and festive cheer
The initiative encompassed a range of heartwarming activities.
Allianz Malaysia provided monetary aid to NGOs like Cahaya Society, empowering them to distribute essential food items to families in need.
Financial assistance was also extended to eight NGOs in Klang Valley, Sabah, and Kelantan, enabling them to purchase groceries and essentials during the festive season.
Adding a touch of Raya joy, Allianz Malaysia partnered with Buku Jalanan Chow Kit, an NGO supporting underprivileged children.
Together, they provided new festive clothes for 110 children in the Chow Kit area.
Allianz employee engagement and community service
Beyond financial contributions, Allianz Malaysia fostered a spirit of volunteerism among its employees.
A team of employees volunteered with Silent Teddies Bakery, a social enterprise run by individuals with hearing impairments.
Together, they baked delicious treats – 150 jumbo chocolate chip cookies, 20 boxes of sea salt chocolate chips, and crafted 60 beautiful cookie boxes.
Further exemplifying their commitment to supporting the underprivileged, 36 Allianz Malaysia employees from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Ipoh branches volunteered with Kenchara Soup Kitchen.
This NGO provides meals and support services to those in need. The volunteers assisted in packing and distributing 1,828 hot meals to homeless individuals and the urban poor in various cities.
“The ‘Raya Bermakna Bersama Allianz Malaysia’ initiative, which began in March during Ramadan and continued through Hari Raya, aimed to extend the spirit of giving to the underserved community,” explains Ng Siew Gek, Head of Allianz4Good.
“We partnered with NGOs aligned with our mission and provided volunteer opportunities for our colleagues.
Our goal was not only to bring joy during the festive season, but also to contribute to a more inclusive and united society.”
