Perak healthcare landscape is set to receive a significant boost with the completion of two new hospitals – Seri Iskandar Hospital and Parit Buntar Hospital – by the end of 2024.
These additions will further enhance healthcare accessibility for residents throughout the state.
Perak expanding healthcare capacity
A. Sivanesan, chairman of the Perak Human Resources, Health, Indian Community Affairs and National Integration Committee, announced the upcoming openings during a press conference.
He highlighted the current state of healthcare infrastructure in Perak, stating, “We currently have 14 hospitals with almost 5,800 beds available, alongside 88 health clinics, 126 village clinics, and four mobile clinics.”
The addition of Seri Iskandar Hospital and Parit Buntar Hospital signifies a commitment to expanding healthcare capacity in the state.
These new facilities will not only increase bed availability but are also expected to alleviate pressure on existing hospitals, ultimately improving access to quality healthcare for Perak residents.
Additional developments and addressing concerns
Beyond the new hospitals, Sivanesan also announced the opening of a new clinic, Pangkor Health Clinic, before the year’s end.
This further demonstrates the state’s dedication to improving healthcare accessibility across various regions.
He also addressed a previously raised concern regarding the name of Parit Buntar Hospital.
“The issue of renaming the Parit Buntar Hospital was discussed at the Perak State Executive Council meeting, and it was unanimously decided that its name should be retained,” Sivanesan stated.
“We will be writing to the Health Minister to ensure the name remains Parit Buntar Hospital.”
This decision acknowledges the importance of respecting local identity.
The completion of Seri Iskandar Hospital and Parit Buntar Hospital, along with the opening of Pangkor Health Clinic, marks a significant step forward for Perak’s healthcare system.
These developments will provide residents with improved access to essential medical services, contributing to a healthier and more vibrant Perak community.
