Minister for Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) Nga Kor Ming has announced a significant investment in Melaka, allocating RM83.66 million for 17 key projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.

The visit was in conjunction with the KPKT Sentuhan Kasih programme and also present was State Housing and Local Government, Drainage, Climate Change and Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin

Nga highlighted the substantial nature of the allocation, stating it’s the largest Melaka has ever received.

A significant portion (RM22.31 million) will be dedicated to the construction of new homes under the Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) program.

“These funds represent taxpayer money,” Minister Nga emphasised. “We must appreciate this investment and be grateful for the diligence of Malaysians who contribute through taxes.

Without their contribution, such a substantial allocation wouldn’t be possible.”

The investment extends beyond housing, encompassing various infrastructure upgrades.

The Bukit Katil People’s Housing (PPR) program will receive RM15.5 million, while RM4.55 million is earmarked for the development of New Chinese Villages.

Additionally, RM7.5 million will be dedicated to housing maintenance and the Malaysian Housing Maintenance Fund, alongside a RM500,000 upgrade for the Jalan Kubu Fire and Rescue Station.

The KPKT investment plan goes beyond basic infrastructure needs.

RM3.5 million will be allocated for the construction of a new Jasin Market, while RM8 million will be directed towards development projects undertaken by local government authorities.

Residents can also look forward to upgraded public parks (RM1.5 million) and the expansion of the Pulau Gadong People’s Housing Programme (RM12.55 million).

Furthermore, a new cell will be constructed at the Sungai Udang Solid Waste Disposal site for RM3 million.

KPKT Sentuhan Kasih program focuses on various initiatives, including a visit to Kampung Permai Machap Umboo in Alor Gajah and the Tehel PPR to oversee the maintenance of elevator units.

Additionally, the program included visits to iconic Melaka landmarks like the Ayer Keroh Arch, Medan Kraftangan Ayer Keroh, Taman Seribu Bunga, Padang Temu, and Residensi Klebang 2.

The KPKT’s RM83.66 million allocation signifies the government’s commitment to Melaka’s development.

This investment in housing, infrastructure, and public spaces will not only improve the overall quality of life for residents but also contribute to Melaka’s continued growth and prosperity.
