The inaugural Generali Malaysia Run 2024 was a resounding success, bringing together 12,000 runners and raising awareness for important social causes.
Held on May 19th at Dataran Putrajaya, the event offered participants a chance to choose their health and a worthy cause simultaneously.
Generali: Running for more than just fitness
This year’s Generali Malaysia Run embraced the theme “Run with a Purpose.” Beyond promoting physical well-being, the event actively supported three non-governmental organizations (NGOs):
- PINTAR Foundation: Championing education for underprivileged children.
- Malaysian Nature Society: Advocating for environmental conservation.
- National Cancer Society Malaysia: Raising awareness about cancer.
Runners could choose a T-shirt associated with their preferred cause and participate in engaging activities at the event, fostering a deeper understanding of these critical issues.
Generali Malaysia Run 2024 extended its reach by partnering with sponsors to support The Human Safety Net (THSN) Global Challenge.
This global initiative aims to empower vulnerable communities.
Notably, the event raised over RM250,000 for the Suriana Welfare Society Malaysia, enabling early childhood education for 80 children and their families in PPR Kg Muhibbah.
Celebrating resilience and achievement
The run wasn’t just about competition – it was a celebration of human spirit.
Ten cancer survivors from the National Cancer Society Malaysia inspiringly participated in the 6km run, showcasing the strength and determination of those impacted by the disease.
Fabrice Benard, Chief Executive Officer of Generali Insurance Malaysia Berhad, emphasized the event’s core message.
“The Generali Malaysia Run 2024 embodies our commitment to making a real difference,” he stated.
“This event goes beyond promoting health and wellness; it serves as a platform to address critical social issues.”
Benard highlighted the importance of collaboration.
“We’re privileged to partner with our NGO partners to advocate for social inclusion, environmental preservation, and health risk prevention, all aimed at building a sustainable community,” he said.
While the event acknowledged outstanding achievements in the 12km and 21.1km competitive categories, the true spirit of the run resided in the participants’ collective effort.
“We are humbled by the support of runners, customers, partners, and colleagues,” added Benard.
“Without them, the Generali Malaysia Run 2024 wouldn’t be the success it is.”
Generali also included a virtual run format to accommodate those unable to attend in person.
Virtual participants could choose their distance (6km, 12km, or 21.1km) and complete it anywhere, anytime between May 19th and June 19th, 2024.
Upon completion, virtual runners receive a commemorative T-shirt, finisher medal, and sponsored goodies.
The Generali Malaysia Run 2024 stands as a testament to the power of community and collective action.
By promoting health, raising awareness for social causes, and celebrating human spirit, the event leaves a lasting positive impact on both participants and the wider community.
