The Majestic Johor Festival, a premier event showcasing Johor’s rich cultural heritage, is set to draw over 600,000 visitors to Puteri Harbour from 28 August to 1 September 2024.
With an ambitious goal of boosting tourism and celebrating the state’s vibrant traditions, this festival is poised to become a major attraction for both local and international visitors.
Majestic Johor Festival: Celebration of culture
Tourism Johor is pulling out all the stops to ensure the success of the Majestic Johor Festival.
Director Sharil Nizam Abdul Rahim highlighted the extensive promotional efforts that have extended beyond Johor, targeting regions such as Riau, Indonesia, and Singapore.
This year’s festival promises to be a spectacular event, featuring a wide array of attractions designed to celebrate and preserve Johor’s cultural identity.
One of the festival’s main highlights is the exclusive exhibition of royal classic cars, which offers a rare glimpse into Johor’s regal history.
Additionally, the Majestic Johor Parade is expected to be a showstopper, featuring vibrant performances from 26 cultural and artistic groups, including school bands that will add to the festive atmosphere.
“The Majestic Johor Parade will be a vivid showcase of our state’s cultural wealth,” Sharil Nizam said during a recent press conference.
Spectacular events and enhanced visitor experience
In addition to the parade and car exhibition, the Majestic Johor Festival will include a grand fireworks display and a Merdeka Eve concert on 30 August.
These events are expected to draw large crowds, creating an unforgettable experience for attendees.
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic and ease of access, the Johor Public Transport Corporation (PAJ) will provide free bus services directly to the festival site from designated parking areas around government buildings in Kota Iskandar.
First held in 2022, the Majestic Johor Festival is a cornerstone of the Johor government’s efforts to boost tourism.
The festival’s impact on the local economy and its role in enhancing the state’s tourism appeal were recognised when it received the ‘Gold Award Attractive State Tourism Event’ in 2022.
This recognition underscores the festival’s importance in promoting Johor as a key tourist destination.
Looking ahead, Tourism Johor is committed to further enhancing the state’s tourism offerings as it gears up for the Asean Tourism Forum 2025 and Visit Johor Year 2026.
Sharil Nizam Abdul Rahim emphasised the ongoing efforts to upgrade all tourism products and amenities across the state.
“We have extensive plans for each district, including promoting sports activities that appeal to young people, such as push biking and junior fencing,” he noted.
The annual Majestic Johor Festival plays a vital role in these efforts, serving as a flagship event that showcases the state’s cultural diversity and vibrant traditions.
