E-Mobility Asia: ASEAN’s green future is now

Explore how E-Mobility Asia 2024 is driving sustainable mobility in ASEAN, with a surge in EV demand and exciting green transport solutions.

E-Mobility Asia: ASEAN’s green future is now

E-Mobility Asia (EMA) is poised to take centre stage in November 2024, offering a unique platform to accelerate green transport solutions in the ASEAN region.

As electric vehicle (EV) demand continues to rise across Asia, EMA brings together key industry players, policymakers, and stakeholders to drive the transition to sustainable mobility.

This year’s event will explore how the region can embrace electrification and innovation in line with the theme, “Electrifying the Future: Transitioning Innovations Towards Mobility.”

The three-day showcase, co-located with Sustainability Environment Asia (SEA) in Kuala Lumpur, is set to attract over 12,000 trade visitors and feature more than 100 exhibitors from six countries.

By focusing on e-mobility advancements, EMA will highlight how ASEAN can leverage this technology to achieve its climate and economic goals.

Electrifying growth in ASEAN’s EV market

E-Mobility Asia is not just a showcase of electric vehicles but a window into the future of sustainable transport.

The ASEAN EV market is projected to grow from US$500 million in 2021 to a staggering US$2.7 billion by 2027.

The region has already seen EV sales multiply fourfold in 2023, with further growth expected as countries like Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia push for electrification.

Malaysia, in particular, has ambitious plans to become an EV hub, aiming for 80% of car sales to be electric by 2050.

Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of MARii, emphasises the significance of EMA 2024 in supporting these goals.

“This event marks a key milestone in Malaysia’s EV ecosystem, supporting the National Automotive Policy 2020’s goal of positioning Malaysia as a top regional hub for assembling Next Generation Vehicles (NxGV), including Electric Vehicles (EVs),” he stated.

A platform for innovation and collaboration

EMA 2024 promises to be an exciting event for industry leaders and policymakers alike.

Delegations from across ASEAN, including India, Japan, and South Korea, will gather to explore cutting-edge technologies such as battery innovations, charging infrastructure, and digital mobility solutions.

More than 60 speakers will present at technical sessions and conferences, sharing their insights on accelerating EV adoption and improving sustainability through better battery management.

“The continued support from the Asian Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (AFEVA) and regional associations fosters invaluable knowledge exchange across the industry,” said Vicky Tan, Project Director at Derrisen Sdn Bhd.

The event will also feature a Networking Night on the second day, allowing participants to connect and explore collaboration opportunities.

By uniting the region’s key players, EMA hopes to foster an ecosystem that promotes electrified transport, reduces emissions, and advances sustainable urban mobility across Southeast Asia.

Dato’ Dennis Chuah, President of the Electric Vehicle Association of Malaysia (EVAM), summarised the event’s vision: “EMA 2024 is a pivotal event fostering growth in Malaysia’s EV industry, promoting sustainable mobility and collaboration.

By uniting industry leaders, stakeholders, and policymakers, we can advance cleaner, electrified transportation for an eco-friendlier Malaysia.”

With government backing, industry support, and regional cooperation, EMA 2024 is set to propel ASEAN into a future powered by clean, efficient, and sustainable mobility.
