Taylor’s University partners MAB for World Sight Day

The Malaysian Association for the Blind (MAB) recently hosted an inspiring event in conjunction with World Sight Day, leaving attendees with a profound sense of admiration for the visually impaired community.

Witnessing their daily perseverance and strength served as a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit. This year’s celebration highlighted not only their determination but also underscored the importance of healthcare accessibility for all.

Observing how the visually impaired navigate their daily lives with confidence, despite the obstacles, left an indelible impression on all who attended. Their courage and unwavering spirit serve as a reminder that true strength comes from within. The event, filled with lessons on inner vision and perseverance, allowed participants to witness the remarkable capabilities of individuals who, despite their challenges, live their lives with determination and grace.

Health screenings led by Taylor’s University

A key highlight of the event was a free health screening conducted by 22 medical students from the School of Medicine, Taylor’s University. Held on 5th October 2024, the screening included comprehensive tests such as Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements, blood pressure checks, glucose and cholesterol testing, as well as free HPV vaccinations for young adults aged 9 to 25.

Attendees also benefitted from breast examinations and PAP smears, emphasizing the significance of early detection and regular health checks. Led by doctors and professors, this initiative aimed to promote health awareness within the visually impaired community and further supported the global focus on eye health.

The World Sight Day celebration at MAB was a resounding success, thanks to the dedication of the MAB staff, volunteers, and medical professionals involved. The warmth and hospitality extended by the organizers added to the meaningfulness of the day. The event not only promoted the importance of eye health but also encouraged unity and support for those facing life’s challenges with remarkable strength.
