Garmin Malaysia has officially introduced Garmin Pay, a revolutionary payment method in collaboration with Public Bank. This secure, contactless solution allows users of compatible Garmin smartwatches to conduct daily transactions with a simple tap on their wrists, ushering in a new era of convenience and streamlined payments for Malaysians.
Garmin Pay is designed for individuals with active and dynamic lifestyles. Whether it’s refueling after a morning run, buying groceries, or enjoying a meal with friends, this innovation eliminates the need for wallets, keeping payments quick, secure, and hassle-free. Public Bank Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cardmembers can easily integrate their cards into the Garmin Pay Wallet, making everyday spending safer and more efficient.
Jimmy Chuang, Country Manager of Garmin Malaysia, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch: “We are thrilled to introduce Garmin Pay to our users in Malaysia, a feature that aligns perfectly with our goal to empower a healthier, more convenient, and connected lifestyle. This partnership with Public Bank not only brings convenience to our users but also demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that simplify daily routines. We are excited for Malaysians to experience the ease of contactless payment through Garmin wearables.”
Exclusive Perks for Public Bank Cardmembers
To celebrate this launch, Public Bank is rolling out exclusive rewards for its cardmembers. From January 21 to April 30, 2025, cardmembers who activate Garmin Pay and complete three retail transactions with a minimum of RM80 per transaction will receive RM30 cashback. Additionally, cardmembers can enjoy significant discounts on selected Garmin products until December 31, 2025, with savings of up to 13% or RM450 off the suggested retail price, depending on the product.
“Garmin Pay will further add value and convenience to our cardmembers with another digital payment option, especially for the fitness enthusiasts,” said Tan Sri Dr. Tay Ah Lek, Managing Director and CEO of Public Bank.
Ensuring Security and Wide Acceptance
Garmin Pay employs robust security measures, including unique watch-specific card numbers and transaction codes for every purchase. Importantly, card details are not stored on Garmin devices or servers, ensuring user privacy and peace of mind. The payment method is widely accepted across Malaysia, covering various retail and service outlets, from cafes and supermarkets to fitness centers and convenience stores.
Compatible with both iOS and Android devices, Garmin Pay is accessible through the Garmin Connect App, which can be downloaded from Google Play and the App Store. Users can find detailed information on supported Garmin devices at garmin.com.my/minisite/garmin-pay/ and supported Public Bank cards at pbebank.com/en/cards/.
Garmin Pay exemplifies the fusion of technology and convenience, redefining the way Malaysians approach their daily transactions. With its secure, swift, and wallet-free payment experience, Garmin Pay caters to the growing demand for contactless solutions, offering unparalleled benefits for both fitness enthusiasts and everyday users. As this innovative service gains traction, Malaysians can look forward to a future where payments are as effortless as a tap on the wrist.
