Serenia City expands sustainability efforts with HomeGrown Run

Serenia City’s inaugural HomeGrown Run united 3,000 participants for eco-friendly activities, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.

Serenia City has taken a significant step in fostering vibrant community engagement with the launch of its inaugural HomeGrown Run, a key initiative under the broader ‘HomeGrown Future’ program. This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang), local schools, and universities, highlights Serenia City’s dedication to sustainable living, community building, and environmental stewardship.

The HomeGrown Future initiative aims to cultivate a thriving, self-sustaining environment by creating job opportunities, supporting business ventures, and fostering a strong sense of community through engaging events and amenities. Additionally, it embraces sustainability and innovative agricultural practices, reinforcing Serenia City’s vision of a greener and more resilient township.

HomeGrown Run Draws 3,000 Participants

The first-ever HomeGrown Run, held in December 2024 at Serenia Central Park, saw nearly 3,000 participants come together for a day of fitness, environmental activities, and community bonding. The 5km run was complemented by various eco-friendly workshops, including Kokedama crafting, a Pot Seeding Workshop, Zumba dance sessions, Urban Farming demonstrations, and a Fish Release activity.

A key highlight of the event was the “Effective Microorganisms Mud Balls” activity, where participants worked together to revitalise the lake at Serenia City Central Park. This activity underscored the township’s commitment to ecological restoration and sustainability, aligning with the HomeGrown Future initiative’s mission of integrating nature with urban living.

Commitment to a Greener Future

The HomeGrown Run was officiated by MPSepang’s Timbalan Yang Dipertua, Muhamad Shah; Sime Darby Property’s Chief Operating Officer – Township Development, Appollo Leong; and Sime Darby Property’s Head of Business Unit 3, Hazlan Husin. Their presence reinforced the shared commitment between the local council and private developers in nurturing a sustainable and self-sufficient community.

Serenia City’s dedication to sustainability and community engagement is evident through initiatives like the HomeGrown Run, which not only promote eco-friendly practices but also foster stronger social connections among residents. By integrating green activities such as urban farming, lake revitalisation, and nature-based workshops, the township is creating a self-sustaining environment that enhances both lifestyle and environmental consciousness. These efforts align with Serenia City’s broader vision of developing a resilient, vibrant community where nature and modern living coexist harmoniously.

Serenia City’s Lifestyle Offerings

Beyond the success of the HomeGrown Run, Serenia City’s HomeGrown Future initiative will continue to introduce new programs aligned with its five key pillars: opportunities, lifestyle, comfort, agrihood, and excitement. Future initiatives will focus on agrihood, eco-friendly experiences, and self-sustaining agriculture, ensuring long-term benefits for residents.

In line with its ongoing development, Serenia City is set to launch a new precinct in June 2025, alongside an enhanced retail experience to provide greater convenience for residents. These upcoming developments reaffirm Serenia City’s position as an ideal living environment for young families, blending modern amenities with sustainability and community-driven initiatives.
