Mall collaboration brings Raya cheer to NKF families

CITTA Mall, 1 Mont Kiara & Klang Parade partnered with Lions Club to bring Ramadan joy to underprivileged children & NKF patients with iftar, gifts & groceries.

In the spirit of Ramadan, the management teams of three prominent Klang Valley malls – CITTA Mall, 1 Mont Kiara, and Klang Parade – joined forces with the Lions Club of Sunway Damansara Metro to extend festive joy and support to underprivileged children and patients from the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).

The collaborative initiative saw meaningful iftar sessions, generous gifts, and heartfelt acts of kindness being extended to uplift these individuals and their families during the holy month.

Shopping spree for NKF families

The initiative commenced at CITTA Mall on 25 March 2025, where six families from the National Kidney Foundation were warmly welcomed. The mall treated the families to a delightful shopping spree at its festive bazaar, providing a total of RM2,500 for new Raya outfits.

Following the shopping excursion, the management team of CITTA Mall and members of the Lions Club shared a heartwarming buka puasa meal with the families. Thanks to the generosity of CITTA Mall shoppers, each family also received groceries worth RM2,000. Further adding to the festive cheer, the Lions Club contributed additional sampul rayas for each family.

Joyful iftar for orphaned children

The following day, 1 Mont Kiara played host to nearly fifty children from Rumah Anak Yatim Shifa and Rumah Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Baitun Nurrawdhah for a cheerful buka puasa gathering. The evening was made even more special by a generous meal sponsorship from A&W Malaysia and duit raya contributions from the Lions Club.

Demonstrating the community’s giving spirit, a Ramadan Food Bank campaign at 1 Mont Kiara successfully collected RM1,500 worth of groceries throughout March, thanks to the contributions of shoppers and tenants. These essential supplies were subsequently distributed to support the participating children’s homes.

Festive essentials and heartfelt gifts

On 27 March 2025, Klang Parade continued the spirit of giving by hosting ten guests from four NKF families for an intimate buka puasa session at Next Food Junction. In a bid to ensure the families could celebrate Hari Raya with dignity and joy, Klang Parade contributed RM400 worth of clothes, shoes, bags, and other goodies for each family.

The Lions Club further enhanced the evening by providing duit raya to each family. Additionally, Klang Parade gifted exclusive Raya goodies and beautifully crafted bowls valued at RM680, creating a truly memorable experience for the attendees.

Compassion and unity

The meaningful sessions were graced by the presence of key representatives, including Mohd Anuar bin Mohd Shamsuddin Ooi from CITTA Mall, Janice Ho from Klang Parade, Ooi Wai Sheng from 1 Mont Kiara, Dr. Alan Thoo, Head of Marketing for the malls and Immediate Past President of Lions Club Sunway Damansara, and Lee Ju Ann, the Organising Chairperson from the Lions Club.

“Every festive season is another reminder for us to remain grateful for the circumstances that we take for granted all too easily,” comments Dr. Thoo. “Through conversations with these individuals and families, we learn that there are many hidden battles they are fighting each day, and we are committed to easing their burden, even just a little, through these simple gestures. It will never be enough, but we hope it allows them to forget their woes for a moment and to celebrate with those who matter.”

This collaborative effort between the mall managements and the Lions Club of Sunway Damansara Metro truly embodied the core values of Ramadan: compassion, unity, and unwavering community support for those most in need.
