Guinness hunts for Malaysia’s first Chief Pint Officer

Guinness launches a unique search for its Chief Pint Officer, inviting fans to master the Tilt Test and celebrate perfect stout pours.

Guinness, Malaysia’s premier stout brand, has initiated an innovative nationwide campaign to appoint its inaugural Chief Pint Officer (CPO).

Open to non-Muslims aged 21 and above, this role celebrates the artistry of a perfect pint, inviting enthusiasts to uphold Guinness’s exacting standards.

The CPO will act as a quality ambassador, promoting the craft behind Guinness Draught.

By mastering the Tilt Test, applicants can showcase their dedication, with top contenders earning a chance to visit Dublin’s iconic Guinness Storehouse and other exclusive rewards.

Guinness champions perfect pours

The campaign revolves around the Guinness Tilt Test, a straightforward measure of a pint’s quality. Applicants tilt their pint slightly; if the creamy head remains intact, it qualifies as perfect.

They then post a photo on Instagram Stories, tagging @GuinnessMY and using #GuinnessTiltMY. More valid submissions boost their leaderboard ranking.

Joyce Lim, Marketing Manager for Wheat Beer, Stout, and Diageo Brands at Guinness Malaysia, underscored the campaign’s significance.

“This initiative celebrates the pride and precision of a perfect pint,” she said.

“We’re inviting fans to embrace Guinness’s draught heritage and elevate every pour into a moment of pride.”

Applicants can participate at any bar serving Guinness Draught. They order a pint, perform the Tilt Test, and share their entries.

Weekly leaderboard updates on @GuinnessMY’s Instagram Stories track progress, with submissions closing on 31 July 2025.

Guinness supports applicants through CPO Open Days at 25 selected bars nationwide. Trained ambassadors demonstrate the six-step Guinness pour, helping participants refine their skills.

Weekly updates on bar locations and timings will appear on Guinness Malaysia’s Instagram.

For home enthusiasts, Guinness Draught in a Can (GDIC) offers an alternative.

Available at supermarkets and hypermarkets, GDIC must be poured into a clear glass to pass the Tilt Test. Guinness emphasises responsible enjoyment, urging applicants not to drink and drive.

A Tradition of Excellence

Guinness’s campaign builds on its storied legacy in Malaysia, where the brand has long defined stout excellence.

The CPO role offers enticing perks: an all-expenses-paid Dublin trip, monthly Guinness supplies, RM100 credit at Arthur’s Storehouse, VIP event invites, and an RM888 birthday celebration.

The top 20 applicants, based on their Tilt Test submissions, will enter the Guinness Leadership Programme.

This exclusive training covers Guinness products, the 7Cs of the Perfect Pour—Cleanliness, Coldness, Craft, and more—and fosters a community of pint ambassadors.

A final challenge will crown the first Chief Pint Officer.

For decades, Guinness has shaped Malaysia’s stout culture, blending tradition with innovation.

The Tilt Test campaign engages fans in a celebration of quality, reinforcing the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship.

It also promotes responsible consumption, ensuring the experience remains safe and enjoyable.

By inviting Malaysians to hunt for perfect pints, Guinness strengthens its community ties.

The campaign transforms each pour into a shared moment of pride, appealing to both seasoned fans and newcomers exploring the art of a great pint.

With submissions closing on 31 July 2025, Guinness expects fierce competition among pint enthusiasts.

The Leadership Programme’s winner will embody the brand’s dedication to quality, serving as Malaysia’s first Chief Pint Officer and a symbol of Guinness’s heritage.
