The Capitol set to redefine Petaling Jaya’s evolving urban skyline

The Capitol is set to become Petaling Jaya’s tallest landmark, combining transit connectivity, Grade A offices, healthcare and lifestyle facilities.

Petaling Jaya is set to welcome a new addition to its skyline with the completion of The Capitol, a 32-storey mixed-use development by 1 Utama City Group, scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2026.

Positioned as the municipality’s tallest building, the development is designed around the principles of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), capitalising on the recently operational LRT3 Shah Alam Line. The 37.8-kilometre rail line, which began full passenger service on June 29, 2026, connects Bandar Utama to Johan Setia and was officially launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Capitol will offer direct connectivity to both the driverless LRT3 network and the adjacent MRT Kajang Line interchange, providing commuters with alternative transport options while reducing reliance on road travel. The development is expected to accommodate approximately 20,000 corporate workers daily.

Designed as twin 18-storey Grade A office towers supported by a 14-storey podium, the project features floor plates of up to 90,000 square feet, floor-to-ceiling windows to maximise natural lighting, and structural sky bridges that allow tenants to combine office spaces into larger work environments.

Integrated workplace, healthcare and lifestyle facilities

Beyond office space, The Capitol incorporates lifestyle, wellness and community-focused amenities within its podium. Three levels will be dedicated to food and beverage outlets, a premium grocer and fitness facilities.

A key component of the development is its Medical Hub, which will house more than 120 clinical specialists across 30 medical disciplines, offering healthcare services within the commercial complex.

The 16th floor has been planned as a community space featuring multi-sport facilities, an open-air breezeway and a large event hall designed to host corporate and civic functions.

For motorists, the development provides toll-free access from the Sprint Highway, visibility from the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), and approximately 2,200 parking bays.

Accessibility to the area is expected to improve further after Prasarana Malaysia begins construction of five previously deferred LRT3 stations, including the nearby Tropicana station, in the fourth quarter of 2026, strengthening connectivity across the growing commercial precinct.
