KLIA Ekspres fares will rise on 1 January 2027. An adult one-way ticket from KL Sentral to KLIA goes from RM55 to RM65.
Express Rail Link, which runs the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit, announced the change on 30 September. It is the first revision since 2016.
Here is what changes, what other routes will cost and how you may pay less.
What changes on 1 January

The adult one-way fare rises by RM10. That is an increase of about 18%.
The adult return fare goes from RM100 to RM118, according to one report. A child’s one-way ticket moves from RM25 to RM29, and the return from RM45 to RM53.
The new KLIA Ekspres fares apply to both terminals. The adult one-way fare is the same to Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
A family of two adults and two children would pay RM188 one way instead of RM160. That is RM28 more, by our calculation.
Children aged six to 15 pay the child fare. Those under six still travel free.
The last revision came in 2016, which is 11 years ago. Prices have held until now.
ERL chief executive Datin Noormah Mohd Noor said the change follows the company’s concession agreement with the government.
She cited higher operating and maintenance costs. The firm also plans to keep investing in service standards.
What other routes will cost

KLIA Transit fares rise as well. The adult fare from KL Sentral to Bandar Tasik Selatan goes from RM6.50 to RM7.70.
To Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, the adult fare moves from RM14.00 to RM16.60. To Salak Tinggi, it goes from RM18.30 to RM21.60.
Travellers boarding closer to the airport will pay less. From Salak Tinggi to KLIA, the new adult fare is RM5.80.
From Putrajaya or Cyberjaya to KLIA, it is RM11.50. From Bandar Tasik Selatan to KLIA, it is RM45.40.
Fares between the inner stations rise too. Bandar Tasik Selatan to Putrajaya or Cyberjaya will cost RM9.50.
Bandar Tasik Selatan to Salak Tinggi will cost RM14.70. Putrajaya to Salak Tinggi will cost RM5.60.
Frequent flyers have season passes. The same report lists a monthly pass of 44 trips over 31 days at RM465 from KL Sentral to KLIA.
The transfer between KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 stays at RM2.
ERL says it is working with partners to explore ticket discounts of up to 30% from January 2027.
The same report says booking online through the KLIA Ekspres website or app gives 10% off. It does not say whether that is new.
Concession fares also exist. Malaysian seniors aged 60 and above, disabled persons and eligible students pay RM45.50 one way from KL Sentral to KLIA.
The reports did not say how tickets bought before 1 January will be treated. Check with ERL if you plan to book ahead.
Airport travel is changing in other ways too. The KLIA Aerotrain paused overnight earlier this month while buses covered software works.
For longer trips, compare ECRL fares and express bus tickets before you choose.
