PIKOM LEAD 2026 Summit charts Malaysia’s regional AI ambitions

At PIKOM LEAD 2026, 500 tech leaders charted a robust roadmap to transform Malaysia into ASEAN’s premier artificial intelligence powerhouse.

In a decisive push to position Malaysia as Southeast Asia’s premier digital frontrunner, some 500 technology executives, policymakers, and industry stakeholders convened for the PIKOM LEAD 2026 Summit, outlining an ambitious roadmap to transform the nation into a regional artificial intelligence (AI) powerhouse.

Organised by the National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) under the theme “Leading Malaysia’s Digital Economy into the AI Era — Inspire | Innovate | Invest,” the high-profile summit underscored AI’s rapid transition from speculative innovation into core business infrastructure across the region.

Delivering the officiating keynote address titled “The Shift to Agentic AI,” Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Chairman Ganesh Kumar Bangah highlighted the critical urgency of developing autonomous, agentic capabilities. He emphasised that building domestic agentic AI capacity is imperative to safeguard Malaysia’s competitive edge in an increasingly automated global landscape.
