Police target zero break-ins during Chinese New Year

The police yesterday advised the people to notify them should they “balik kampung” on the Chinese New Year holiday so that the police can keep an eye on their unattended houses here to prevent any break-in.

The police yesterday advised the people to notify them should they “balik kampung” on the Chinese New Year holiday so that the police can keep an eye on their unattended houses here to prevent any break-in.

Ampang Jaya Police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the Ampang Jaya police headquarters hoped to record more than 1,000 such notifications this time compared to 900 last year.

“I urge the people of Ampang to notify the police before returning to their hometowns so that the police can ensure that their houses are safe from burglars,” he told reporters after attending a programme on keeping houses safe during the exodus to hometowns and villages.

At the event, the police distributed forms for the people to fill their names, addresses, telephone numbers, numbers of vehicles left behind and the telephone numbers of their neighbours.

Amiruddin said the information would facilitate the work of the police in crime monitoring and prevention and ensure zero house break-ins during the festive period.
