Family members and relatives of inmates from the Chinese community will be allowed to visit them at prisons on Jan 25 and 26 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, senior prisons deputy commissioner Supri Hashim said.

Family members of Internal Security Act (ISA) detainees will be able to visit them at the Kamunting detention centre on Jan 23 and 24.

The visit is open from 8.15am to 4.15pm.

Visitors are required to bring in their MyKad and are not allowed to bring in food or drinks as these can be purchased at prison canteens.

They are also not encouraged to give money to the inmates.

“If they need to do so for certain purpose, such as to pay examination fees, they will have to obtain the official receipt from prison authority,” he said.
