Waste management company SWM Enviroment Sdn Bhd has started their ‘Program Penyerahan Tong Sampah’ for about 1,000 residents in Taman Mount Austin, Johor Bahru.
The distribution began from June 11-12, 2012, for two days from 2-10pm for the convenience of working families.
Judy Tan 48, a housewife told the Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY) that it is good will for the SWM to distribute garbage bins to the residents and was told by the staff that the bins will be replaceable if it is broken.
In the pretext that the bins are stolen twice, a police report needs to be made and SMW will investigate the matter. Should the bins be untraceable, users of the bin will need to pay a RM120.00 compound.
Poh, another housewife told CJMY that she refused to collect a bin for herself because she feels that having the bin around will be burdensome.
As SWM do not come on a fixxed day, sometimes only appearing at midnight, if the bins were stolen by others or broken, then she would have to bear the full responsibility and the hassle of making police report.
The issue will be easily settled if the SWM is able to do the same routine on regular basis.
