Some 3,600 companies in Kelantan have yet to provide information to the Economic Census 2011, which will end on Dec 15.

Kelantan Statistics Department director Ab Rahman Mohamad said the companies were from six sectors, namely agriculture (19 per cent), mining and quarrying (26 per cent), manufacturing (13 per cent), services (17 per cent), construction (16 per cent) and electricity supply/environment (38 per cent).

“So far, 21,000 companies have cooperated with the census, which is important in gathering information on economic activities in the country through the official accounts of registered companies,” he said in a statement, yesterday.

Ab Rahman said the data collected would provide a clear picture of the business structure in Malaysia at the district and national levels.
