Lim Teck Kuan, the owner of a 20-year-old watch shop in Johor Jaya, Johor Bahru told Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY) that prior to the watch business, he was a lorry driver for car spare parts.
When Lim started the business, he was concentrating on the sales of different kinds of watches, but 10 years ago that his shop was broken into by burglars and all of his watches and clocks in the shop were stolen. As the shop was under-insured, Lim endured great losses and it was an especially challenging time for him.
From then on, he decided to work on watch-repairing skills. Repairing different kinds of watches regardless of brand takes boundless time and effort.
Apart from self-educating, Lim constantly upgraded himself by learning all that he could about watches and restoration.
He also told the CJMY that even though there are competitors in this trade but due to the skill he has honed and many supportive returning customers, he still manages a talked-about business.
