The Terengganu government is making thorough preparation to face the monsoon season which is likely to see big flood
following the worst flooding in several Asian countries.
Menteri Besar Ahmad Said said the Welfare Services Department (JKM) had held a meeting to make preparation including the provision and delivery of food and evacuation of flood victims.
“All preparation such as putting up bases especially in low lying areas, identifying evacuation centres and ensuring adequate security forces members,” he told reporters during a meeting with residents of Kampung Sungai Mas, Padang
Kubu yesterday.
Ahmad said the Terengganu government wanted to ensure sufficient food supply for flood victims putting up at evacuation centres and to ensure their safety. He said although the state had been hit with floods several times, the
people should not think that it would recur.
