The registration for the 6P amnesty programme at immigration counters nationwide will open only up to 10pm tomorrow, the Immigration Department said.
This was to allow its staff to celebrate the Aidilfitri, its Director- General, Datuk Alias Ahmad said in a statement.
Employers and their illegal immigrant workers, however, can still register with the companies appointed by the government to assist in the exercise until on Wednesday next week, he said.
The exercise, which was to end on Aug 21, had previously been extended to Aug 31.
Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the department said it will close its counters nationwide for four days in conjunction with the Aidilfitri.
In states where the weekend falls on Saturdays and Sundays, the closure will be on Aug 27-28 and Sept 3-4. In states where the weekend is on Fridays and Saturdays the closure will be on Aug 26-27 and Sept 2-3.
