Nokia has finally released its long-awaited Anna update for existing Symbian^3 smartphones via Nokia Software Updater this morning.

Announced on 12 April, Anna brings a range of improvements to the already-stable Symbian^3.

Anna sports a portrait qwerty, a better webkit browser which Nokia promises would be faster and easier to use, Anna also boasts an improved photo gallery and something Nokia is very proud of, ‘brand new icons’.

Anna will also reward Nokia N8 users with a N8-only camera update which will include 30fps 720p HD video recording with continuous zoom.

Overall Symbian Anna brings improved performance and better resource managed which directly translates to a smoother and more stable OS.

Existing Symbian^3 users can update to Anna via Nokia Software Updater, as the update was absent on Nokia’s Ovi Suite at the time.

The update for the test unit (Nokia C6-01) took less than 15 minutes (depending on internet access speed) and did not compromise any user info, however a data backup is advised.
