Three friends were sent to the gallows by the Penang High Court today after they were found guilty of murdering a man three years ago.

Justice Zamani Abd Rahim made the decision after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubts on the charge against Visva Nathan

Vadeveloo, 27, contract labourer Shivasunderam Rajan, 24, and factory worker Thangaraj Manirajee, 23.

The three men were charged with murdering Faiel Mat, 38, near the Pusat Komputer HCK Dot Com, Jalan Kenari, Sg Ara, Bayan Lepas, between 3.50am and 5.40am on Oct 3, 2008.

In the judgment, Zamani said that the prosecution had succeeded in establishing a prima facie case.

He said the defence by the accused were merely fictitious and a denial.

Deputy public prosecutor Tan Guat Cheng prosecuted, while lawyer RSN Rayer represented Visva and Shivasunderam, and Thangaraj was represented by lawyer Harpal Singh.
