It was not the usual Sunday in the capital city when over 10, 000 cyclist gathered at KLCC in support of the fifth KL Car-Free Morning.

It was also a pleasant surprise to all when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak hopped on his bicycle and started pedalling around the city with the others.

The event was organised by Go Green KL Car-Free Morning. The aim of the family-oriented event is to promote unity and a healthy lifestyle amongst city folk.

The ultimate goal of the car-free movement is to create places where car use is greatly reduced or eliminated and to convert road and parking space to other public uses.

Among other cities that practice car-free zones are Governors Island in New York City, Maria Island in Tasmania, Fazilka in India and many more.
