A small estate school in Muar here was badly damaged after the recent floods destroyed much of the premises.
SJK (T) Ladang Nordanal in Panchor, Muar, situated on an oil palm estate in the district of Ledang, has 48 students.
According to the school, teachers managed to save important documents, but lost all its office equipment, including computers and photocopy machines, to flood damage.
According to the president of the school’s parent-teacher association, Batmanathan, the school has received little aid from the community, as many people around the area are busy recovering their own homes from one of the worst floods to hit Johor in recent years.
He added that the school is seeking help from NGOs and individual benefactors.
Komunitikini found that the school’s classrooms and compounds had already been cleaned up, but electricity supply was yet to be restored. Students were studying on the floor.
Batmanathan said the school expects to get chairs and tables soon.
The school is in need of lab equipment, portable white boards, computers, chairs and tables for teachers and offices, and also stationery.
