MNS received funds for Belum-Temenggor conservation

Malaysian Nature Society received RM34,290 for their on going effort to conserve Belum-Temenggor rainforest from TESCO, NESTLE and TETRA PAK.

TESCO, NESTLE and TETRA PAK today presented a cheque worth RM34,290 to the Malaysian Nature Society (MNS) to support their on-going conservation effort in Belum-Temenggor Rainforest.

Present at the cheque-handling ceremony were Mr Andrew Sebastian, Head of Communications of MNS; Mr Azlam Shah Alias, Government Relations and Legal Affairs Director  of Tesco Malaysia (TESCO), Mr Teo Heng Keat, Business Unit Manager and Nestle Liquid Drinks (NESTLE) and Ms Terrynz Tan from the Communications and Environment Director, Tetra Pak (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (TETRA PAK)

TESCO, NESTLE and TETRA PAK pledged to contribute RM10 (collectively) to MNS for every kilogram of beverage packets collected for recycling. A total of 240,005 beverage packets weighing 3,429 kilogram were collected through this program.

The beverage recycling campaign, which kick-started in October, aimed to spread awareness among Malaysian about the importance of preserving the rainforest and at the same time spreading the need to understand the importance of recycling.
