This morning, the number of evacuees in Kota Setar rose to 21,058, up from the 19,591 yesterday evening.

In KEDAH, a total of 32,066 evacuees were still at the 83 relief centres in four districts – Kota Setar, Kubang Pasu, Pokok Sena and Pendang, said a spokesman of the National Security Council flood operations room.

The number of evacuees has dropped to 9,351 in Kubang Pasu, 1,413 in Pokok Sena and 244 in Pendang, he added.

A check by Bernama revealed that many major roads leading to the Alor Setar city centre were passable to all vehicles.
