Users of the newly built Sungai Besi-Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) Phase will have free access for one month.
The completed first phase of the highway stretches 16.6km, connecting the Cheras-Kajang Interchange to Bukit Antarabangsa.
The Sungai Besi–Ulu Klang Elevated Expressway (SUKE) is a 31.8-kilometre (19.8-mile) three-laned, dual carriageway runs on top of the existing Kuala Lumpur Middle Ring Road 2 between Sungai Besi and Ulu Klang,
The developer of SUKE, Prolintas, has yet to announce the toll fare for the SUKE highway.
The SUKE has three toll plazas – Alam Damai and Bukit Teratai, which are currently operational. The Ampang toll plaza will be operational at a later phase.
Two of SUKE’s unique features, the country’s first two-level helicoid ramp and the tallest Segmented Girder Bridge (SBG) at 56.4 meters above the ground, set Malaysian records.
Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the expressway is a major alternative route at several strategic locations such as MRR2, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Loke Yew.
SUKE will reduce traffic congestion at the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) by 30% during peak hours, as well as in Jalan Ampang (30%) and Jalan Loke Yew (12%).
He added that it reduces peak hour traffic congestion by up to 36% and reduces travel time from 75 minutes to 25 minutes.
Aside from improving connectivity between other highways, Prolintas draws the users to the spectacular view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline through its strategically placed rest areas.
The rest area will have an unobstructed view of the Kuala Lumpur skyline.
The SUKE Expressway includes Shah Alam Expressway, Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, Sungai Besi Expressway, Cheras-Kajang Expressway, and MRR2.
Upon completion, it also connects to Ampang via the Kuala Lumpur Flyover, the Duta Ulu Klang Expressway and the East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE).
The construction of a 7.8-kilometre stretch involving the Alam Damai Toll Plaza and three other intersections will be operational in the first quarter of 2023.
The SUKE highway concession began on December 25, 2014, and will end on December 24, 2069, spanning 55 years.
