Mrs Malaysia World pageant returned with a bang after a two-year hiatus, with Ipoh-born lawyer Olivia Nicholas crowned as the Mrs Malaysia World 2022.
Olivia Nicholas, 30, married to a doctor and a mother of one, won RM10,000 and was adorned with an RM88,000 tiara at the event’s final, with 17 shortlisted participants.
Mrs Malaysia World is a beauty pageant open to married women aged 20 to 50 and has served as a platform to empower women from all over the world for the past 30 years.
Last year Priyadarshimi MM Pellay Ramesh was crowned as the Mrs Malaysia World and represented Malaysia in the international round in Las Vegas.
This year approximately 17 finalists were shortlisted out of 35 participants who participated in the Mrs Malaysia World’s audition.
Dr Shalini Devi, 35, from Shah Alam, was adjudged the first runner-up; Dr Vaisnavi Kumarasamy, 29, from Kuala Lumpur, the second runner-up and Selvinder Kaur, 30, also from Kuala Lumpur, the third runner-up, said Datin Harveen Kaur, the national director of Mrs Malaysia World Sdn Bhd.
Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib, the wife of Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud, was the guest of honour at the event.
Harveen Kaur said Olivia would represent Malaysia at the Mrs World 2022 pageant in Las Vegas.
She also said that Tharsyani Vijaya Kumar, 26, from Negeri Sembilan, had been picked as Mrs Malaysia World ambassador.
