Taman Senangin Hall in Perai to make way for new facility

The oldest public hall in Perai, the Taman Senangin Village Community Management Council (MPKK) hall, is set to be demolished and replaced with a new facility, according to Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.

The existing hall, which has been in operation for over 30 years, has deteriorated and is in need of a replacement. The state government has allocated a budget of RM2 million for the project, with the District and Land Office and the state Public Works Department overseeing its implementation.

Chow emphasized the state government’s commitment to utilizing MPKK halls as community spaces, aligning with the Penang2030 vision. The new MPKK hall in Taman Senangin aims to provide a comfortable and comprehensive facility for various community activities. The project has already commenced, and it is expected to be completed within two years.

Demolition of the Taman Senangin Hall

The dilapidated state of the Taman Senangin MPKK hall has prompted the decision to demolish it and construct a new facility in its place. Chow announced that the state government is fully funding the project with an estimated cost of RM2 million.

The new hall aims to provide a safe and functional space for community activities, reflecting the state government’s commitment to enhancing public infrastructure.

The District and Land Office, in collaboration with the state Public Works Department, will oversee the project’s implementation. Preliminary work has already begun, and the construction is expected to be completed within a two-year timeframe.

The ground-breaking ceremony held to mark the project’s commencement was attended by Chow, Deputy Chief Minister II Prof Dr P. Ramasamy, Seberang Perai City Council Mayor Datuk Azhar Arshad, and MBSP councillor David Marshel.

Chow emphasized the importance of utilizing MPKK halls as spaces for community engagement and activities. The new MPKK hall in Taman Senangin will be managed by the Perai MPKK and is expected to become a hub for various community programs that directly benefit local residents.
