With the support of Rajah James Brooke, land was donated for new premises in the east of the town, and the school relocated in 1849.

The school’s iconic main building, inaugurated by Rajah James Brooke on August 13, 1886, remains a Kuching landmark despite enduring challenges, including damage during the Japanese Occupation.

St Thomas’ School’s resilience highlights its commitment to quality education. The “twin towers” of its main building continue to inspire awe, overlooking St Thomas’ Cathedral and the Padang Merdeka.
